Jasmine is our Manager and has worked at Canine Cottage for about three years. She has worked as a full-time boarding manager and is currently certified in animal CPR/first aid. She is excited to advance her career in animal care and veterinary medicine and is proud to be behavior- and handling-certified.
Olivia is our assistant manager, with a deep love for dogs and about 10 years of experience at a local doggy daycare. She has plenty of experience in dog care, behavior, and animal care at the Canine Cottage. Her love of dogs knows no bounds, and she provides exceptional care for all.
With four years of experience as a veterinary assistant, Josh combines professional knowledge with a genuine love for dogs.
Josh joined the Cottage in May 2025 and it already feels like he’s been here for years!
A proud owner of two pups—Aspen the pug and Bella the Cavapoo— Josh is dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and enriching environment where every dog is cared for like one of his own.

Allie is a Jersey girl who for most of her life had cats, but dogs always had a piece of her heart. She graduated high school and then went on to pursue a Computer Science degree. From there, she worked in schools and loved it, so she went back to school to study Elementary and Special education.
Outside of work, she enjoys hanging out with her 3 year old pup named Kona and her fiancé. Allie’s favorite part of the job is hanging out with the dogs (obviously). She also loves being able to settle the mind of a nervous owner about leaving their fur-baby at Canine Cottage Salem, especially as a Cottage customer herself. She also loves being able to give the pups a fun day and break out of their shells to turn into confident, playful ones, that warms her heart!
Summer grew up about 20 minutes south of Salem, Virginia and had just about every animal you could think of growing up. Her pet hedgehog was one of her favorites, but she’s also owned chameleons, lizards, horses, fish, bunnies, cats, and of course dogs! She was homeschooled from sixth grade until her senior year of high school. She pursued a degree in biology at Roanoke College with the intention to be an exotic animal veterinarian, but fell in love with grooming during her junior year of college.
Dog grooming was her first “big girl” job and quickly turned into her career! In 2021, Summer received her Pet Groomer certification from Paragon School of Pet Grooming and found her home at Canine Cottage Salem in November of 2023! Summer was promoted to Grooming Manager in April of 2025 and is excited to build out a team of Groomers at the Cottage.
Outside of work, Summer spends her time hanging out with her four cats and pet bunny! Summer is going to adopt a dog soon, but waiting until they move into their house with a back yard to give the pup plenty of space to play. Her favorite part about the job is making dogs look and feel their best. She has made so many furry friends and is extremely appreciative of her clients! Summer would eventually like to try out and offer creative grooming services, which would allow for color dye jobs on the pups.
Nicole has always been an animal enthusiast and has never met a creature she didn’t like! Growing up she has had many animals from chickens and ducks to cats and dogs but dogs hold a special place in her heart. She has always been fascinated with dog behavior and what makes a dog so special. Nicole has been a pet stylist for 4 years now and absolutely loves it! It truly is her calling and she absolutely adores every dog that comes into her care.
Nicole’s favorite thing to do outside of work is to hangout with her 2 pups Sadie and Vader. She likes to do yard work with them running around but don’t let that fool you they all love being couch potatoes too! Nicole’s favorite part about working at Canine Cottage is seeing all the different dogs that walk through the doors and transforming them to look their absolute best! She loves giving all the dogs love when they come in and she adores all the people she works with as well! Canine Cottage truly is one big happy family!
Cory and Rebekah are the proud owners of Canine Cottage Salem! They have always loved dogs in particular, but also most other animals as well. They have 2 dogs of their own, Zeus & Zaria, and they (the dogs) help to keep the Barnes household very active and energetic. Cory and Rebekah have 5 beautiful and creative children. Their children range from 3-year-old recently adopted twins as well as 8, 11 and 21 year-olds.
Their children love the Lord and enjoy being involved in ministry at their local church. Cory and Rebekah have been in worship ministry together for over a decade and both have a heavy heart for missions and community outreach.
