Dog Boarding Requirements & Vaccination Policies

Keeping A High Standard Helps Us Keep Your Pet Safe

Canine Cottage is pleased to offer dog boarding services to Salem, VA. Our kennels are very clean, and we provide a comfortable dog bed at no extra charge so your dog gets a good night’s sleep away from home.

Also included in our boarding package is our doggy daycare. You don’t need to worry that your dog will be pent-up and restless. Our well-trained staff will make sure they get plenty of exercise and playtime to keep them happy and healthy.

Boarding Guidelines

Evaluation: We require that your dog attend a full-day evaluation prior to boarding with us to ensure that they are comfortable in play groups and in the Canine Cottage facility. A dog temperament test will help us place them in the correct play group. This evaluation is important and is non-negotiable.
Vaccinations: Dogs boarding with us must be up to date on Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella (not a standard vaccine, but can be requested at most veterinarian offices). We accept vaccination records sent to us by either you or your vet prior to boarding. You may also upload them to the Paw Partner App, email them to us, or bring us a physical copy.
Drop-Off: Our pet drop-off times are: Monday-Friday: 7:00 am-11:30 am and 2:30-6:30 pm Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 am-10 am and 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. We recommend dropping your pet off in the morning rather than in the afternoon so they can enjoy a full day of play in our doggy daycare.
Food: If you would like to bring your own food, please ensure that it is in a ziplock bag or an airtight container. Canine Cottage is happy to provide food for your pup for an additional $5/day if your dog does not have a sensitive stomach or any dietary restrictions!
Bedding: A comfortable dog bed will be provided to your pet for no additional charge during their stay. We also supply dog bowls for food and water. We recommend that you leave additional blankets/bedding at home to avoid having personal property accidentally lost or damaged.
Medications: We have well-trained staff at Canine Cottage and are happy to administer your pet’s medications free of charge. Please bring them in a clearly labelled ziplock bag in the original pharmacy packaging.
